The Quilt - Breast Cancer Support

It's that time again, and our
call for entry 2003 is available to all of you "on-line users"! If
you wish to donate a quilt for 2003 to support Breast Cancer programs, you may
find our Call For Entry Form on-line by visiting our website at
www.thequilt.com and selecting the Call For Entry tab. Once there, you will
see the bottom of the screen has a "click here for Call For Entry" which you can
choose. A form will appear that you can either fill out on-line and click
submit or you may also print off the form and fax or mail us using the info
listed on the page.

890-7360 This exhibit is being created in anticipation of Dayton's celebration
of the 100th anniversary of flight. The show will hang for two months instead
of the usual one month and is expecting many more visitors as it is part of
"Inventing Flight 2003". Quilts do not have to be about airplanes or the
Wright brothers. Any number of ideas can be adapted to the theme, including
your "flights of fantasy".

2003 CQA/ACC National Juried Show (June 6 - July 18th, 2003)
Slides must be postmarked and sent to the Jury Coordinator by Feb 10, 2003.Submissions to the NJS 2003 will be judged according to the CQA/ACC Quilting
Standards. Work must be completed after June 2001. Credit must be
given to anyone participating in the execution of the work. Entry
Categories are; Small Wallquilts (Innovative), Large Wallquilts (Innovative),
Small Wallquilts (Traditional), Large Wallquilts (Traditional), Bed Quilts
(Traditional or Innovative) and Wearable Art. Please read complete

The McDougall Highland Quilt Challenge,
Quilted Expressions of Scottish Canadian Heritage, invites quilters from all
parts of Canada (and Scotland) to use some plaid in a quilt creation that
expresses some aspect of our Scottish (or Scottish-Canadian) heritage. Quilts
need to be no larger than 24 inches measured horizontally or vertically. Please
send slides/photographs, entry form and your 60 to 100 word written description

Peace Quilt

In celebration of peace, the
Waterloo County & Area Quilt Festival is asking quilters to from around the
globe to submit quilts that have been created to express their
thoughts related to peace. The quilts will be part of a
special collection on exhibit during the 8th Annual Waterloo County & Area Quilt

The
Grand National is a national quilt show in Grand River Country. It will make
its debut in May 2003 with Reflections of Canada. Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery
and the Joseph Schneider Haus Museum are teaming up to present this major
exhibition of Canadian landscape quilt art. Canadian quilt artists are invited
to participate. The exhibit will open May 10, 2003 and run through June
22, 2003. An artists’ reception will be held May 25, 2003. Send completed

Ontario Juried Quilt Show 2003
Open to all
Ontario residents. All quilts must have been completed after April 1, 2002.
Credits must be included in artist's statement. Two slides are required, an
overall view and a
close up detail. There is a non-refundable entry fee of $25 which entitles the
entrant to submit up to two quilts. All entries will be judged according to the

2003 CQA/ACC Trend-Tex Quilter's Challenge (June 6, 7 and 8th, 2003)
Open to members of the CQA/ACC.
To be eligible for
The Trend-Tex Award, only the 5 kit fabrics may be used on the front
of the quilt. Additional fabrics may be included on the back.
Perimeter of the finished piece must not be larger than 120” of what ever shape
you choose. There is no minimum size restriction. Your design may be
original or traditional.
Prizes
are awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the Trend-Tex Award.
Honourable
Mention and Judges’ Choice Awards may be given.
A
Viewer’s Choice Award will also be announced at the banquet on June 7, 2003.
The Trend-Tex Award
winning quilt will be donated to Trend-Tex Fabrics Inc. and will not be
auctioned. For

Youth Quilt Block Challenge
The 4th Annual Youth Quilt Block Challenge welcomes youth to
submit a quilt block under the theme of Peace. Students will use the provided
challenge fabric to complete their quilt block and are asked to research and
base their block on the Peace theme.
The blocks are submitted and will hang at the Waterloo
Community Arts Centre during the Festival during which time, viewers can vote on
their favourite block. The winners in each age category; preschool –grade 4,
grade 5-8, grade 9-12 are determined by the Viewer’s Choice. For complete Call

IPM
(International Plowing Match) 2004 – Meaford, Ontario
Georgian Quilters in conjunction with the International
Plowing Match 2004 will hold a block challenge. “The
Future of Tradition” featuring “Tomorrow’s Stars Today” quilt block challenge.
